Wrap Up

Many thanks, for leading me through the various social media...on my own I know I would never have experienced this 'broadening of my horizons'. I know that I will revisit many of the sites again and some are sure to become sites I will regularly access. I hope the CPL 2 access will remain available so that I can refer back to them when needed. Cheers, Karen

twitter

I never paid much attention to twitter until this assignment...it seemed a rather James Joyce stream of conscious type of activity, more for ego than any use. However, after reviewing Twitter, I can see it has its place in this multimedia/electronic/cell phone/marketers/ world. I may even access it again, just to search topics to find out more information or events happening with them.

librarything

Librarything is an interesting site for many people; it's a resource where people can organize their 'libraries' and share their 'reviews'. A great communication tool between readers. I don't see myself using it at this time, but it certainly seems to be filling a need for its many members!

google/yahoo program copies

At some point I might use any of the google or yahoo applications for the word processing, spreadsheet or calendar. It is nice to know they are available if I didn't have access to the actual microsoft programs. The help feature and blog are a necessary feature for using the programs but I didn't find them as user friendly as I needed.

Flickr and YouTube

Lovely to have such an expansive collection of pictures to view...is it possible to use the pictures if they aren't under copyright? YouTube is always good...so many different topics and fun to watch the videos.

RSS (Real Simple Syndication)

It was really easy to set up RSS links and I am impressed with the timesaving aspect and the ability to specialize the blogs to my interests.

Google

What do you like about the Google product? What do you dislike? Would you recommend the product to friends and colleagues?

I know that some people find google annoying because it anticipates a search topic and brings up many combinations for that search. Myself, I like google and I like having various search options presented. I really am impressed by how extensive their extended tools list is and all the help one can get to search out a topic. I especially like, Books, Web Search and Translate.
